Nice to meet you, I'm Emma
The Hidden North launched in 2020 by me, Emma! When I went out of work due to COVID, I realised I have no groups to take around Northern Europe and share my love of the region with. So, I decided to take years of notes, images and videos and put it up on the internet. And so The Hidden North was born.
Now that I am back at work, I am continuously adding content to social media and the website based on my personal and professional experience in Northern Europe. I am also focusing more of my attention on helping people plan their trips to this part of the world.
My qualifications:
Originally from Australia, I moved to Norway eight years ago after falling in love. I started guiding right away and never looked back. Eventually my guiding in Bergen led to me starting the walking tour company I Love Bergen, and my guiding also led to me working as a tour leader all across Northern Europe. That, in turn, is what started the Hidden North.

These days when people come to Northern Europe, they typically do the same things. When researching a trip to Norway or Finland, for example, the information feels all very copy-paste with uninspiring itineraries that every travel guide also mentions that you do.
That’s where we come in.
We want to provide you with unique ideas for visiting Northern Europe away from the touristy spots. All of our recommendations are based on what the locals enjoy doing with an addition of history, culture and everyday life. There is so much to see in the North that you’ll want to keep coming back!
