Despite the first book I ordered getting lost in the mail, which Emma rectified by sending a 2nd book, I’m delighted with my purchase of The Coastal Ferry Guidebook. I’m about to go on my second Hurtigruten voyage in 2 years, and having this guidebook to pinpoint places of interest, landmarks, walking tours, and the very well researched history and comments of the various ports, towns, and natural features are such an added bonus. Looking forward to having this book always at hand to get the very most out of this trip!

  2. Carolyn B. (verified owner)

Love the book, so much information. It arrived quickly especially given the distance it traveled. Can hardly wait for our B-K Cruise this fall.

  3. Stephen Bevan (verified owner)

Service was really quick from ordering to receiving book. Going to be a great guide for our trip with Havila later in year.

An incredible amount of useful information and interesting history. This book transformed our fjords cruise. I cannot recommend it too highly.

  7. Anthony (verified owner)

We purchased the guide purposely before our coastal cruise. It is full of information on all the places to be visited and has given us a greater understanding of the country along it’s beautiful coastline.

  8. Jooni Soots (verified owner)

The Coastal Ferry Guidebook is a very well-written and informative travel guide. It includes useful details about the geography and history of the places along the route, and even browsing through the book already makes you feel like you’re on the journey. The book arrived quickly by mail. I highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip on the fairytale-like Hurtigruten coastal voyage.

Arrived within a few days. Looks great. Should be a good read and guide for our trip later this year.

  10. Stephen Jones (verified owner)

Bought the digital version of the guidebook and can’t believe how detailed it is. Looking forward to using it when we do Havila at the end of April. Will be especially helpful during stops when we choose not to do an excursion.

  11. Stephen C. (verified owner)

This is a wonderful book that concentrates on the Norwegian coastal ferry route. It was just what I was looking for in preparation for the trip my wife and I are due to take in a couple of months’ time.
    Thank you Emma

Your guide is full of practical informations, and it’ll be certainly useful for our journey this summer.
Unfortunately, we notice that two pages are missing: numbers 11 and 12.
Could you please send them by mail (alloin.claude@gmail.com).
    Thank you,
    Claude Alloin

  17. Bryan Westby (verified owner)

Thank you – the book arrived today in great condition.

  18. Kay R. (verified owner)

Loads of info, great details of ports with photos highlighting what you can see entering and leaving, lots of self-guided walks with maps and places of interest. There’s also a code to scan so you can leave the book behind but still follow the walking route. Will be using the book in April 26 and can’t imagine anything extra needs to be added.

  19. Jacqueline Simmons (verified owner)

    Very worthwhile!

  20. Julie (verified owner)

Received the book quickly after ordering. In paging through it (our trip will be in August) I am finding much useful information. Reading a bit each day and highlighting things and places to see. Thanks!

  21. Virginia McCloy (verified owner)

We have read the book every day to give us more insight into our coastal journey and it is so helpful when we are having a short port stop and not going on an excursion but would like some ideas on what to visit. The photos and volume of information are fantastic, definitely recommend if you would like to know more about the area as you sail through it

  22. Ruth G. (verified owner)

Very speedy delivery to UK and the book looks like it will be invaluable for our upcoming trip.

  23. Melanie A. (verified owner)

Absolutely delighted with this book. It was easy to order and I was kept up to date by email about its dispatch from Norway and arrival and delivery in the UK by Royal Mail – six days later! It was well packaged and the A5 size makes it easy to transport. We are booked on a Havila ship for a BKB adventure in May. The book gives so much detail about what we will see – as well as where to stand on the boat too- if applicable. The information given will make our planning easier and also more enjoyable. Looking forward to our adventure very much now- thanks, Emma!

  24. Xavier Mortier (verified owner)

    Berry good quick delivery

  25. Jennifer Suzuki (verified owner)

We will be travelling to Norway and Finland, including a week on the Coastal Ferry, in March.

We intend to spend much time out on deck and to do our own thing, at our in pace, in each port, rather than organised tours. The detailed information in this book is bound to be an excellent guide and resource for us. We are looking forward to travelling with this book.

  26. Janice (verified owner)

I am so pleased that I purchased a the Coastal Ferry Guidebook. We are planning a trip for later in the year and this book is amazing! It contains so much information about the ports and scenery that we will be passing and roughly when, so we can look out for them. In addition there are self guided walks for the ports where we will have time to explore with so much practical and historical information. I feel like we will get so much more out of our trip! Thank you so much Emma, for producing such a wonderful resource for travellers!

  27. Veronica (verified owner)

Fantastic information and very helpful while cruising along the coast!

  28. Liz (verified owner)

Really enjoyed using the book we used it most days on our trip north Bergen to Kirkenes . We did several of the self guided walks although I did struggle with downloading them and then using them ( probably user error😂)
Just added lots of fascinating information and facts that we wouldn’t have otherwise know about
Thank you for all the hard work that went into producing it

  29. Torsten (verified owner)

Amazing book with great tips for our journey. I highly recommend it

  30. Amy N. (verified owner)

Very detailed and independent guide for how to get the most out of a ferry trip. Thank you

  33. Clare (verified owner)

This was an excellent resource. Even in the dark we still saw quite a lot, but this would be even better in the light. Fabulous service delivering to my hotel in Bergen.

  34. John McDonnell (verified owner)

Looks as though the guidebook will be a game changer when we do our trip next June. I had looked online previously but failed to find anything as user friendly. Have also raised a couple of queries with Emma by email and she was most helpful. Definitely five stars.

  35. Bettina W. (verified owner)

What a fantastic book to accompany the travel along the coast. For Germans I recommend picking up in Bergen as I had to pay €15 toll.

  36. Jerry (verified owner)

Excellent information regarding coastal cruise. I only wish I had found it earlier. A fellow cruise member showed it to me as we stood in line to board ship in Bergen.

  37. Matthew Bower (verified owner)

Well written guide that really helped us to get the most out of our trip

  38. Andrew Snowdon (verified owner)

We opted for the digital version of this book for our BKB with Havila in August. I cannot recommend it too highly. We spent an invaluable half hour or so each evening on the laptop reviewing the information for the following day, ensuring that we did not miss any of the points of interest en route and planning our ventures ashore. Essential and great value.

  39. Jorg (verified owner)

Great guidebook. Very helpful in planning our trip.

  40. susan c. (verified owner)

We just returned home from Havila’s BKB. This book was so very helpful for our decision making.

  41. Stephen (verified owner)

Excellent service very quick delivery. Book is much more comprehensive than I expected.

  42. David (verified owner)

Excellent guidebook with incredible, detailed information. I use travel books in both digital and hard copy but I have never seen so much detailed, useful information. Maps with Q codes to download walking routes to your phone, times “step outside @…..” when you will go by lighthouses, and main points of interest, historic information for ports, and buildings / statues, etc. of interest, plus many maps with locations of main points of interest including the ship’s route in relation to. If you not want to miss anything on the coastal ferry, this is the book. Great value.

    Cheers from Canada.

    Thank-you Emma
